Songs ?

So I am thinking about including a song but I don't quite know how I want to do it? I know according to Horton we are not suppose to have animations start when you open a page but I guess the same might go for songs that play when you open a site. My experience in the past has been that it takes the page to load a little longer when you open it. Sometimes they also loop the song which then makes you sick of it and drives you a little crazy if you spend more then a second looking at the page. Maybe I will just have to include the link to YouTube that says Galway Girl Song.

Then I can always embed it.

Either way I would like to include this song I heard and fell in love with while on vacation.

Page and Content

So I am trying to focus of actual page titles and potential content of those pages. Pages are…

Home (Intro page)
About
Lucky Links (annotated links)
Ireland / Northern Ireland (general info, links to town pages)
Derry
Dublin
Galway

Also it was suggested I do like a general “place to see” or “places to eat” page but I am going to include that info by town, on each town’s page. While I like the idea a lot I just don’t want to be redundant, so I think I will not include that information on a separate page.

I am starting to look though pictures to see which I want to include. I wonder if they are any issues (like consent forms) if people, like friends are in some of the shots.

Color Scheme

I was thinking of using green, and I know it may be too obvious but at the same time if I really want to inspire people to visit Ireland maybe I do need to be obvious. So I am just going to go for it and be obvious. I am thinking a dark rich green as a background and a kelly green or possible a sea foam green for text on top and I am thinking of white or cream and brown as accent colors and possible orange as a link color. Its either going to look awesome or a total mess. I guess I will see when site construction beings...

Organization?

I think I am going to stick with my ireland idea. I am trying to get a sence of how I will organize it. I am thinking the best way might be to do it by town. Then have sections on each town page like "Things to see" "Places to eat" "Local History". I think if I try to do one page on "Things to see" and just specify what town you can see it in that might be confusing. Then maybe if their is a really big attraction I can just make that a link off the larger page for the whole town.

Fun or Function

I was looking around some other bloggs and saw that linda library is thinking about doing her final project on teen book review/resources. I though that was a really good idea. I thought about doing something similar but for young children. However, I thought that would be a lot harder since I would mostly do using other peoples work since I myself have never compiled a list of suggested children books or anything like that. I guess I just thought it would be easier if I just did a travel site because then I could use a lot of my own stuff, then almost everything would be my own original content.

Final Project Introduction

Hello, My name is libraryteach. I chose this name because I was a teacher and now hope to become a children's librarian.

Currently in our info 652 Information Resource Design class, we are starting to think about what we will be doing for our final website project.

I feel that I may be one of those people that have become so involved in work and school that they no longer have any outside interests.

I do like to bake and to scrapbook, but somehow that seems way to domestic and I don't know that I know enough about them to make a whole website about it.

I was inspired when I heard about doing a travel site. I recently went to Ireland and can see making a site on traveling to Ireland, could be fun.
